Thanks to the use of Zapier, and if your commission is always the same regardless of the property, you can automate the calculation of the owner's revenue.
Here are the steps to set up once the Zapier app has been added to your Smily account and your Zapier account is created:
STEP 1:
Choose the trigger for the Zap. Here, we will choose New/Updated Booking in Smily.
STEP 2:
You need to filter so that the zap only triggers if it is a confirmed booking.
STEP 3:
You need to filter so that the zap only triggers if the booking amount is greater than 0.
STEP 4:
You need to filter so that the zap only triggers if the NOCOMPUTEPAYBACK tag is not associated with the booking. This tag allows you to prevent the zap from triggering if you don’t want to calculate the owner’s profit for certain bookings.
STEP 5:
This step allows you to calculate the payback to owner based on your commission. For example, if your commission is 20%, then you’ll need to multiply the Initial rental price (booking price) by 0.80 to get the owner’s revenue.
STEP 6:
Subtract the existing payback to owner in the booking from the amount calculated in Step 5. The idea is to ensure the zap only triggers if the amount needs to be updated/adjusted.
STEP 7:
Filter so the zap only triggers if the Payback to owner in Smily is different from what it should be after the booking is created or modified, and therefore needs to be adjusted.
STEP 8:
Update the booking with the correct payback to owner amount.
