Welcome to our manual article where we will break down the pricing structure for using Smily. We understand that transparency in pricing is crucial for our valued customers, and we're here to guide you through our pricing model and what it means for your monthly invoices.
How does the Pricing Model work
Our latest pricing structure aims to be aligned with your business's success, to allow you to grow successfully with Smily. The new pricing model takes into account your Gross Booking Value (GBV) and adjusts your monthly fee accordingly.
Under the latest Smily pricing rules, your minimum monthly fee is calculated from the number of rentals in your account*, taking into account the monthly rate that you paid before our pricing structure change, if you were already using Smily before July 2022. This means that regardless of your GBV, you will always pay at least this amount.
*all rentals in your account are included in the subscription calculation, including unpublished rentals.
Charging the Minimum Fee
Our automated billing system will charge a prepayment for the minimum fee on your account renewal date to the credit card saved on your account.
We calculate your monthly fee based on a percentage of your GBV from the previous calendar month. This commission percentage is set at 1%.
The GBV is calculated based on the rental price (excluding fees) of all confirmed bookings with check-out date in the previous calendar month (from the 1st to the 31st).
Calculating Your Total Monthly Fee
The total amount of your subscription payment is calculated using the GBV based Commission, then adjusted to the Minimum or Maximum fee for your account, based on the number of rentals.
For instance, let's consider an example for your subscription fee due in the month of September.
Your minimum monthly fee is set as 300€ and your account renewal date is 10th September
Your GBV for August was 45,000 EUR. To calculate your fee, we apply the commission rate of 1% to your GBV:
1% of 45,000 EUR = 450 EUR
This means that your total monthly fee for September will be 450 EUR.
On your renewal date in September (the 10th), the following charges will be applied to your credit card:
1. Automated Charge for Prepayment: Our automated billing system will charge you a prepayment for 300 EUR (your minimum monthly fee)
2. Adjustment Charge: We will charge the remaining balance of 150 EUR to your credit card.
In the billing section of your Smily account (accessible by going to settings > billing), you can access a billing simulator. Here, you can see:
- the Minimum fee that is applied for your account.
- the Maximum fee that you will pay (if applicable)*
- An estimate of the total monthly subscription fee, based on your monthly GBV and adjusted according to the minimum and maximum fee amounts
- The price per rental and total GBV commission %, based on the total monthly subscription fee.
*For long term Smily users, a maximum fee was introduced when the Smily pricing change was introduced. Your maximum monthly fee will be capped at 2 or 3 times the minimum fee, depending on the price that you were paying before the change was introduced.
For every charge due, whether for the prepayment or the adjustment, you will receive an invoice by email. All invoices will be automatically charged to the credit card saved on your account.
If payment for the invoice has already been collected successfully, the invoice will be marked with “paid” status and will include details of the payment date and payment method. In this case you have nothing to do.
If payment for the invoice has not yet been collected, you will receive an email to inform you that the payment has not been collected. An attempt to charge the invoice balance to your credit card will be made every day until the payment is collected successfully.
If we are having trouble collecting payment for an invoice, we will be in touch.
