1. Introduction
Cancellation policies are now managed at the account level, enabling centralized control. Each rental can inherit one of these policies, ensuring consistency while allowing flexibility to assign specific policies to rentals when needed.
2. Managing Cancellation Policies at the Account Level
To access and manage cancellation policies for your account:
- Navigate to Account Settings > Cancellation Policies.
2.1 Overview of the Cancellation Policy Table
The cancellation policy table includes the following columns:

Actions:
- Edit icon: Modify an existing policy.
- Delete icon: Remove a policy (note: you cannot delete the default policy until another is set as the default).
- Name: Displays the name of each cancellation policy.

Default: Indicates whether a policy is the default (true or false).

Default Policy Rules:
- At least one policy must be set to true.
- Only one policy can be true at a time.
- The default policy (true) is automatically applied to all new rentals unless manually changed.
- Changing the Default: Setting another policy as true will automatically revert the current default to false.

Rentals: Shows the number of rentals using each policy.
- Click the number to view a list of the rentals that use this policy.
- Penalty Rules: Displays the cancellation rules for each policy (e.g., refund percentages based on the cancellation timeline).
2.2 Creating a New Cancellation Policy

Click the New Cancellation Policy button.

Fill in the following details:
- Name: Enter the policy name.
- Default: Specify if this policy will be the default (true or false).
- Penalty Rules: Define the conditions and penalties (e.g., refund percentages for specific timeframes).

Save the policy.
3. Managing Cancellation Policies at the Rental Level
To assign or modify a cancellation policy for a specific rental: Navigate to Rentals > [Select Rental] > Rental Cancellation Policy.
3.1 Assigning or Changing a Cancellation Policy

Use the drop-down menu to view and select available cancellation policies.

Click Save to apply the selected policy to the rental.
3.2 Adding a New Policy
If the desired policy is not listed:

Click the Cancellation Policy link to go to the Account Settings > Cancellation Policies section.

Create a new policy as described in Section 2.2, then return to the rental and assign it.
4. Key Notes
- Default Policy Behavior: The default policy (true) is automatically applied to all new rentals unless a different policy is manually selected at the rental level.

Deleting Policies:
- You cannot delete a default policy. Set another policy as default first.
- Ensure no rentals are using the policy before deleting it.
- Viewing Rentals: Click the number under the Rentals column in the account-level table to see which rentals are using a specific policy.
