Aliases with the "+" sign are not accepted
- ❌ Invalid example: your.email+smilypay@gmail.com
- ❌ Invalid example: contact+owner@gmail.com
✅ What CAN Be Done
Option 1: Create a distinct email address
- ✅ ownername-smilypay@gmail.com
- ✅ payments-owner-smith@youragency.com
- Most reliable and professional solution
Option 2: Use dot variations with Gmail (native method)
Gmail completely ignores dots in the part before @[gmail.com](<http://gmail.com>).
If your address is: firstnamelastname@gmail.com
Then these variations work automatically:
- ✅ firstname.lastname@gmail.com
- ✅ f.irstnamelastname@gmail.com
- ✅ fir.st.name.lastname@gmail.com
Advantages:
- No configuration needed
- Emails arrive directly in the same inbox
- Works immediately
Limitations:
- You can only move dots around, not create new letter combinations
Some sites may normalize the address and block this trick
Option 3: Use a custom domain with Google Workspace
If you have your owns a domain name, you can create real distinct aliases:
- ✅ contact@yourdomain.com
- ✅ billing@yourdomain.com
- ✅ smilypay@yourdomain.com
Advantages:
- Real distinct and unlimited aliases (depending on plan)
- Professional solution
- All emails arrive in a single main account
💡 Reminder: 1 email = 1 SmilyPay account. The phone number can be reused for multiple gateways (it's only used for two-factor authentication).
