Damage deposit settings at the general level
In order to set your damage deposit payment management settings at a global level, you can go to Settings > Payments > Default preferences. There, you can choose to define several elements.
1. The collection method
With Smily means that the payment of the damage deposit will be due in case a guest pays via the Smily payment link.
Outside Smily means that the payment of the damage deposit will never be requested via the Smily payment link. This is useful in case you are using a partner app such as Swikly. In case you select this option, the field Collection name allows you to enter the external method you are choosing to collect the damage deposit (eg Swikly).
2. The collection time
Before Arrival means that the payment of the damage deposit will be due before the check-in date. If you choose to collect it with Smily, the damage deposit will be due at the same time as the balance. If you choose to collect it externally, the damage deposit will be due at any date of your choice.
On Arrival means that the payment will be due on the check-in date.
All those settings allow you to automate the management of the payment of your damage deposit. In addition, all that information is displayed on the Smily payment page and the Smily booking contract, in order to let your guests know when and how the damage deposit will be collected.
Damage deposit settings at the booking level
When creating a new booking, by default the settings for those fields will be the ones coming from your general settings. However, you may also edit those settings at the booking level if needed.
When editing a booking, the same damage deposit field appear on the right hand side of your booking edition page:
The principles are the same as the ones at general level, but allow to make exceptions depending on your needs. Once edited, you may than click Save to validate the changes at booking level.
