Cartes Bancaires (Bank Cards) Payments with Stripe

Cartes Bancaires is France's domestic card network and accepting Cartes Bancaires payments can have a positive effect on your payment acceptance rate in France.

Over 95% of these cards are co-branded with Visa or Mastercard. This allows transactions to be processed through either the Cartes Bancaires network or the Visa/Mastercard networks.

In the EEA, businesses handling co-branded cards are required to offer customers the option to choose their preferred network during checkout. As such, when a cardholder is using a cobadged Cartes Bancaires to pay on a Smily payment page, they are required to select their preferred network.

Processing Cartes Bancaires payments with your Stripe account.

Important: if you wish to process payments through the Cartes Bancaires network with Stripe, you need to activate this option both in your Smily account and in your Stripe account.

Activate Cartes Bancaires payments in your Smily account

• Go to Settings > Payments and then find the Stripe payment gateway where you wish to activate this payment method and click Edit.
• Under Cartes Bancaires, check Activate

Note: If you do not activate Cartes Bancaires as a payment method in your Stripe account, then Cartes Bancaires payments will be processed via their cobadged Visa / Mastercard network.
