How to add a complex tourist tax?

This article aims to describe the reproduction of complex tourist tax calculation rules.

These fees are associated with departmental or regional taxes, often complex and containing exceptions. We will explain how to use our tool to replicate these taxes and illustrate the process with a concrete example.

Summary:

For each adult: we need to collect 5% per night on the nightly rate (please note a maximum of €3.09 per person per night).

In addition to this amount, two additional taxes apply:

10% departmental tax

34% regional tax

Examples and calculations

For a stay of two people for 3 nights for an amount of €1350

1350 / 2 = €675 per person

675 / 3 = 225€ per night per person

225 * 5% = €11.25 > €3.09 (so we apply this maximum)

3.09 * 3 nights * 2 people = €18.54

18.54 * 10% = €1.85

18.54 * 34% = €6.30

PLEASE NOTE: You must always return to the nightly price per person to carry out the calculations.

NB: If we add one or more children in the calculation, we must redivide the price per night per person by including the children. However, children will not be subject to tourist tax:

Example :

For a stay of two people and 2 children for 3 nights for an amount of €500

500 / 4 = €125 per person

125 / 3 = 41.66 per night per person

41.66 * 5% = €2.08 < €3.09

2.08 * 3 nights * 2 people = 12.5€

12.5 * 10% = €1.24

12.5 * 34% = €4.25
