Your Smily website can provide search engines and AI assistants with information that is easier to discover and understand, including links to your rentals, website pages and price ranges.
Some improvements are automatic. Others require a theme update or activation by our Support Team.
How do search engines and AI assistants read your website?
Search engines and AI assistants use automated tools to browse web pages and read their content. Some of these tools do not run JavaScript, so they may not see information that appears only after a page loads.
Smily offers several improvements to make your content easier to access, including more direct links, a cleaner sitemap and information that can be read without JavaScript.
A cleaner sitemap and more direct links
A sitemap is a file that helps search engines discover the pages on your website.
The following improvements provide clearer information to search engines:
- Category cards and Theme v3 menus now link directly to the relevant pages.
- Categories that only redirect to another page are no longer listed in the sitemap.
- If someone visits a page in a language your website does not offer, they are redirected to the same page in your website’s default language.
- Home, search, category and destination pages no longer show a modification date in the sitemap that changes every time the file is generated. Rentals, pages, blogs and blog posts keep their modification dates.
Make your rentals visible without JavaScript
On websites using Theme v3, destination, category and search pages can include the first page of results directly, with a link to each rental.
This allows tools that do not run JavaScript to read that first page of results. Search engines can still discover your other rentals through your sitemap.
How can I benefit from this improvement?
This improvement requires a Theme v3 update. Contact our Support Team to request it.
If your theme is a copy or has custom template edits, we will review it with you before updating it.
Provide information to AI assistants
Two complementary options are available to help AI assistants read information about your website:
- The
/llms.txtfile. - Structured data on your rental pages.
These options work independently and are disabled by default. You can request activation of either option or both.
1. The /llms.txt file
The /llms.txt file is a text file designed to make website content easier for AI tools to access. Once enabled, it is available at the root of your domain, for example:
https://www.yourwebsite.com/llms.txt
It can include:
- Your visible rentals, their links and price ranges.
- Your visible pages and their titles.
- Your destinations and categories.
Before requesting activation, check your page titles: the file lists every visible page with its title.
2. Structured data on rental pages
Structured data provides search engines and AI assistants with information about your rentals in a format they can read directly.
It can include a rental’s name, description, location, capacity and price range. This information can be read without JavaScript and does not change how the page appears to your guests.
This option works with all theme versions, including copied themes. If a rental has no nightly or weekly price, no price data is provided for that rental.
How do I enable these options?
Contact our Support Team and let us know whether you would like to enable:
- The
/llms.txtfile. - Structured data on your rental pages.
- Or both.
Frequently asked questions
Do these improvements guarantee that my website will appear in search results or AI assistant responses?
No. They make your content easier to discover and read, but they do not guarantee that a search engine or AI assistant will index, display or recommend it.
Does the price range represent the exact price of a stay?
No. The range uses the prices already displayed on your website. The price of a stay depends on factors such as dates, length of stay and applicable offers.
Do I need to update my theme to enable the options for AI assistants?
The Theme v3 update is required to display the first page of rental results without JavaScript. Structured data on rental pages works with all theme versions, including copied themes, without a theme update.
The /llms.txt and structured-data options must be enabled separately by our Support Team.
