What is Attribute Lock on Airbnb?
Airbnb recently introduced a feature called “attribute locking .” This prevents certain fields from being updated via API. This means that certain information must be managed directly from the Airbnb extranet , and can no longer be automatically modified by a channel manager or other partner, regardless of the synchronization settings chosen.
How does the lock work?
When a field is edited directly on Airbnb (for example, by the owner, the main host, or a co-host), it is automatically marked as “locked . ”
There is no need to manually enable this option: Airbnb automatically applies the lock as soon as a change is made from its platform.
Consequences of locking a field
Once a field is locked, any attempt to update it via API will be ignored by Airbnb .
In practice, this means that:
You can update the ad from your channel manager,
But if a relevant field is locked, the change will not be transmitted to Airbnb.
The result: the listing keeps the value set directly on Airbnb, not the one sent by the SMILY
👉 In short, locking attributes allows Airbnb to prioritize information edited directly on its platform, rather than automatic updates sent by external partners like SMILY.
How do I unlock fields so that they can be managed by SMILY again via the API?

1- In the Listing Edit Tool ,
2- Click on Settings

3 - Under Edit preferences
4 - Click on Rental management software .
5 - Press Manage instead from the SMILY application (here Bookingsync TEST in the example) ⬇️
